Dysport is an injectable anti-aging treatment with a similar formula to Botox. Both solutions contain small amounts of botulinum type A, which effectively relaxes facial muscles that lead to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
Dysport has been found to offer more “spread,” which makes it a good option for crow’s feet in the outer corner of the eyes. The results may also last slightly longer than Botox injections.
Dysport can be used to address the following aging concerns:
- Vertical lines between the eyebrows known as frown lines
- Fine lines that appear in the outer corners of the eyes
- Thin vertical lines that appear above the lip line
- Horizontal creases across the forehead
Like Botox, Dysport has also been approved for medical treatment of excessive sweating and a condition of the neck muscles known as cervical dystonia.
About the Procedure
Dysport injections are administered by Linda Owsley, RN. Linda has spent many years carefully studying the aging process on the face to learn the best possible locations for anti-aging injections. Her experience and expertise offer patients of Owsley Plastic Surgery the best results possible.
Injections pose little discomfort for patients and typically take less than 30 minutes to complete. Patients are allowed to return to regular activities immediately after the procedure. Any mild bruising or swelling after the treatment will usually subside within a few hours.
Recovery and Typical Results
Results of Dysport tend to be seen more quickly than those with Botox, with most patients beginning to see results within 2 to 3 days. Results may also last slightly longer, with the majority of our patients going 5 to 6 months before needing a touch-up treatment. Dysport can be used alone, or in combination with other cosmetic treatments like fillers to achieve even more dramatic results.
